💉 The Journey of a Vaccine—From the Lab to Your Immune System
What actually happens in your body after you get vaccinated? In our Reel, we follow a vaccine on its entire journey.
🧬 A vaccine shows your immune system the profile of a pathogen without you having to go through the illness.
❄️ It arrives at our practice well-chilled, followed by a quick jab in the upper arm.
🛡️ In the muscle, sentinel cells pick up the profile and carry it via the lymph to the lymph node in the armpit. There, a B cell recognizes the profile, with the help of a T helper cell.
✅ This is how antibodies and memory cells are formed. If your body encounters the actual pathogen later on, it will recognize it and be able to react much more quickly. After about two weeks, your risk of getting sick decreases—though some vaccines require multiple doses to achieve this.
💪 A sore upper arm or mild fatigue in the days following the vaccination are common and usually harmless—a sign that your immune system is working.
📅 Bring your vaccination record to us for a checkup and ask us anything you want to know.
