After studying human medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, I began my training as a general practitioner at Innsbruck Regional Hospital in 2017. This thorough training laid the foundation for my work as a family doctor in Wörgl.
During my six-month teaching placement with Dr Helmuth Obermoser in Kitzbühel, I was able to experience the diverse challenges and rewarding aspects of general practice in a health insurance-based practice and deepen my medical skills.
I have already gained extensive experience both privately and professionally in Germany and abroad. My clinical stay in Nagoya, Japan, where I was able to learn about a different healthcare system, was particularly formative. My international experience and language skills – I am fluent in German, English and Spanish and have a solid knowledge of Italian – enable me to provide competent and empathetic care to patients from different cultures.
My career
Born in the Bavarian Forest, I completed my secondary education at Landgraf-Leuchtenberg-Gymnasium in Grafenau in 2011. After moving to Vienna, I successfully completed my studies in human medicine, graduating in 2017.
From 2017 to 2021, I worked at Innsbruck Regional Hospital, where I completed my training as a general practitioner. I then deepened my knowledge and practical experience in Kitzbühel with Dr Helmuth Obermoser.
Between July 2022 and February 2025, I ran a general practice in Kirchberg in Tyrol together with Dr Kristina Obermoser. In spring 2025, the next step followed: the opening of Familienpraxis Tirol in Wörgl.
Interests and personal commitment
As someone who loves nature and has many interests, I enjoy spending time outdoors – whether participating in sports on land or water. My passion for travelling and learning about foreign cultures also enriches my work as a general practitioner in Wörgl: it allows me to treat patients with a broad perspective and deep understanding.
Dr Marco Schönberger and the Familienpraxis Tirol team look forward to welcoming you in Wörgl.
